The Magician Trilogy, also published in an omnibus edition as The Snow Spider Trilogy,[1] is a trilogy of children's fantasy novels by Jenny Nimmo, author of the Children of the Red King series. The first book, The Snow Spider, won the Smarties Prize (1986) and the Tir na n-Og Award (1987), the latter being an award for the best English-language children's book with an authentic Welsh background.

The books, set in twentieth-century Wales, revolve around a boy named Gwyn. His grandmother gives him five odd gifts for his ninth birthday. They take him on a quest to discover whether he is a magician like his Celtic ancestors, and help him to unravel the mystery of his sister Bethan's mysterious disappearance.
The Magician Trilogy was adapted for television by HTV in three mini-series: The Snow Spider (1988),[2] Emlyn's Moon (1990)[3] and The Chestnut Soldier (1991)[4]
A stage production of The Snow Spider, adapted by Mike Kenny and directed by Phil Clark (director) took place in 1990-1 at the Sherman Theatre, Cardiff and then toured to Theatr Clwyd, Mold and Theatr Gwynedd, Bangor.
